KATJA REICHERT - KatjArt

Katja Reichert was born in Zurich, Switzerland, into a family of creative minds. From an early age, she sought freedom, depth, and expression beyond conventional expectations. After studying costume and stage design at the Free Academy in Bern, she soon found herself on stage rather than behind the scenes. What followed was a 25-year career in musical theatre—a life shaped by embodiment, storytelling, and emotional intensity.
Throughout those years, drawing and painting remained a quiet companion—a space of truth and introspection. When the stages fell silent during the pandemic and the relevance of art was questioned, a new path opened: turning toward visual art became a necessity—a return to what truly mattered.
Today, Katja is fully dedicated to painting. Her work is guided by intuition, emotional resonance, and a sensitivity to the unspoken. In her paintings, we encounter fragmented figures, layered feelings, and the quiet force of human experience. Humor, vulnerability, and beauty exist side by side. Themes of transformation, overwhelm, and inner stillness run through her evolving visual language.
She works in her studio in a 500-year-old house at the foot of the Semmering mountain in Austria—a place steeped in history and silence. There, she explores unconventional materials, formats, and surfaces that carry their own stories. Her practice embraces process, imperfection, and emotional truth—and invites viewers to trust their perception more deeply.
For Katja, art is not only expression but encounter—with oneself, with others, with what cannot easily be said. In a noisy world, she creates space for quiet resonance.
